Blue Dragon

Project Dragon is progressing - but I've realised I need to get a wiggle on. If they are to get into eggs ready for Birthday's on Sunday I haven't got until Saturday to finish knitting  - Oops!
Still the blue dragon is done and ready to meet the world.

I'm afraid he didn't get to climb a tree as it is dark, but when his brother, the green dragon is finished they can go on an adventure together. Green dragon is waiting on his wings and legs.

Socks - at last!

Finally! These socks are done!

I was attracted to this yarn because the colourway is "Isle of Wight" but sadly that is the only good thing I have to say about it (ooh except that the balls were very prettily wound).
The yarn was very loosely spun for a sock yarn and I'm afraid that they aren't going to last very long. Also it was very splitty and was constantly sticking to itself. I couldn't find a decent pattern repeat to make the socks matching either.

As well as the problems with the yarn, the socks have come out a bit tight. Despite frogging the short row heel I'd done first and doing a fleegle heel instead, they are rather tight to get on round the heel, although apparently very comfortable once on - and they did come off again! At least the bind-off is nice and stretchy.

Oh well, back to my favourite King Cole Zigzag yarn and flap-and-gusset heel.

Mind Change

Well it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind (or so my mother told me) so I changed my mind on which would be the first verse to go under my Amazing Grace panel, and here it is done!
As I am planning to hang it first at Easter, this verse sums up Easter in a nutshell so it seemed the obvious choice.
I have worked the lettering in free machine embroidery, going over each letter three time (approximately). I am very pleased at my first effort at this. I had to do a few letters at a time and then take a short break as I found holding the fabric taut whilst moving it under the needle was quite stressful on my thumb joints. It was much quicker to do than it would have been doing hand embroidery though.  I want to do some more now!
Now I need to add hooks to the top panel and loops to the bottom panel and join the two together. (ooh, and rub out that full stop that got marked in the wrong place)

Amazing Grace

Oops, forgot to actually write the post yesterday!
This has been on the go for some time - mostly waiting for insopiration on the quilting part, but now this section is done.
Eventually this will have smaller panels with various Bible verses on, which will hang underneath this panel and be interchangeable.
I had various ideas for the quilting part. I started out aiming to go round and round the cross in concentric lines, but I found it hard to keep it looking even. Then I thought about straight lines going across the panel and stopping about 1cm from the lettering on each side, but I thought again that it would be difficult to keep even. After a few more weeks pondering I came up with the lines radiating out, and I am pleased with the result.

The Father sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world, 1 John 4, v.14 (GNB)

This is the first text I am planning to put underneath.

That's the trouble with startitis.
