Gooseberry Jam

This week was gooseberry jam making
The gooseberries came from Stonelands (see last week's post) and it is yummy! Hopefully there willl be more jam in the coming weeks as the Tayberries are starting to come in, and then it will be the currants (red white and black) which made lovely jam last year.

My jam making has come a long way from my first effort 30odd years ago. My plum jam from that effort could have tarred a road! I think in the end we threw it away jars and all because we couldn't get it out.

In other news the sparkly sock disaster has finally come up with a sock that fits. Hopefully by this time next week it will have a mate.

Stonelands

This weeks offering is some more pyrography.
Unfortunately I forgot to take photos, so I had to borrow one which was depicting the whole thing rather than just the pyrography.
My middle daughter and her husband run a project, The Stonelands Project and they are just starting with weekly veg boxes. Some of the lads that they work with have made the boxes and I've been burning the logo onto the front. The first boxes went out this week and I have more to work on tomorrow.

I also made the invitations for my sister's 50th birthday party but, alas, no photos there either as she was going to add some embelishments.

And finally the sad sock saga continues. Despite an extensive modification to the heel it STILL is very reluctant to go round the bend - which is where they are driving me! I'm currently restraining the urge to dump them in the bin.

Cordial - and sad socks

This week I've made about 10 litres of  Elderflower Cordial.
Yummy! Hopefully more to come - if only the sun would shine when I am in a position to collect the elderflowers.

On a sadder note there should have been another pair of sparkly socks - I have actually finished two socks, but they have both had to be partially undone. Here is one before its demise.
I had worked both socks to just past the heel, and then finished one sock. The heel was too tight and wouldn't go round the bend. So I unpicked both and redid the heels in stocking stitch instead of heel stitch hoping it would have a bit more give, and finished off one sock again, and it STILL wouldn't go round the bend! Hopefully my next heel modification will work. Maybe by next weekend there will be a pair of socks that are wearable.

The Father sent the Son...

This week I've done a new text to go under my Amazing Grace banner. It just so happens that the second text I had chosen was the same verse as our Sunday afternoon speaker used last week so it was very timely.
I realised that I had not taken a picture of the whole thing together, so here it is with the original text
and here with the new
I'm hoping that other members of the church will make their own text (in whatever medium they like) to hang under it.

(I just thought "Oh, there is a grubby mark on it!" No - I need to clean my computer screen.)

More Sparkly socks

Second pair of sparkly socks fininshed this week.
Again they have matched up very well. I've started the next pair - will they match too?

And my excitement of the week - seeing Hugh Jackman in concert in Birmingham. Probably the only time in my life I'll go to something like this, and I'm so glad it was this one. It was Fab!! I said if I got one decent photo I'd be happy and I did - just one!
