This little robin was originally for a larger project I'm working on. Having worked body of the bird ready to be applied to the main piece I decided he wasn't quite right and I wanted to do it again. I didn't want the poor little fellow to go to waste though, so I decided to make him into a brooch.
I love to watch the little robin who comes to the bird feeder on my lounge window so this will remind me of him. He seems to have found himself a mate so I am hoping for baby robins in the spring. I've had a family of blue tits for the last couple of years, so a robin family would be nice.
Well I've managed four weeks of my post a week aim! Only 48 to go.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139 vs. 13 & 14

Dragon
This weeks finished object is the first knitted dragon
He is bigger than I expected, and very bright.
I found the instructions for sewing up the wings/arms a bit confusing but I think I got there in the end (if not they are staying that way anyway, unpicking seams in tinsel yarns is fun - NOT!)
The pattern is a King Cole pattern - Ravelry page
Now I have to another one. This time it is red. Will it be ready for next weeks post - who knows?

This weeks project is Tinsel Yarn Pompoms, ready for next Christmas
The yarn was on sale in Aldi, 4 balls for £2.99.
I have to say I think they are only a partial success.
When cutting the pompom the tinselly bits inevitably get cut too, which results in a glittery mess on the floor.
Also, what I didn't think of before starting is that in a pompom it is the cut ends that show most, and the core of the yarn is grey, so the pompom is less sparkly than I imagined it would be.
I think they will be festive enough when mixed with other decorations.
This weeks project was supposed to have been a knitted dragon, but he is still minus half a wing and some claws. I got half way through a wing before realising I was knitting stocking stitch and I was supposed to be knitting garter stitch! He should get done tomorrow though, so I'm ahead for next week!

Week 1
New year, new start. I'm going to try and
a) create something each week, and
b) keep up with my blog.
So here are this weeks offerings, a case for Brian's kindle, and a case for my new camera.
