Banoffee Pie

This week hasn't been conducive to crafting, (although I have managed the leg of a sock) ans I'm away cooking for 29 people on a Scripture Union Camp. Today was banquet day, three course dinner with full roast for the main course. So my offering this week is Banoffee Pie.

The alternative dessert for the dairy-free people didn't go quite as planned. Tt turns out that if you dip balloons in melted chocolate to make chocolate bowls they are liable to explode and fling melted chocolate all over the kitchen.

And the ones that didn't explode wouldn't peel off of the balloon. So they wound up with chocolate shards instead of chocolate bowls.

Exhibition Piece

Oops forgot to post yesterday - very busy week! The next couple of weeks aren't looking good either.
I did manage to (finally) finish my piece for The Isle of Wight Embroiderers exhibition. I had to really, it had to be handed in on Saturday.

I had intended to do flowers in the gaps between the animals but that didn't happen, and perhaps less is more. I am pleased with it though.
(Funny, if it sits in the bag in the craft room it doesn't magically get done. Where are the elves?)

One of the busy things this week was my sister's 50th birthday masquerade party, which entailed much baking.

And, as usual, No1 daughter came up trumps with the birthday cake.

Owly Hats

This has been the week of owly hats. The first one is for a friend's little girl who is going to be two. Her mum loves owls so this is getting to be a tradition. I made and Owl jumper when she was born, an owl cardigan for her first birthday, so this year it's an owly hat.

I got my little grandson to try it on for fit and he said "Please can you make one for me Nanny?" How could I resist. And there was enough yarn left over for his baby brother to have one too.
Now I need to find some yarn to do a couple for their big brothers. Do Mummy and Daddy need one too?

Also this week I made my sister's birthday card.
It wasn't quite the way I planned, but the die wouldn't cut through the card I wanted to use. I like it though and at least it is thin enough to go by normal post.

Sequin Knitting

This week I've finished a top for my daughter. I'm pleased with the way it's come out, especially as I adapted the pattern. She looks pretty pleased with it too :-)
I was afraid that the yarn was going to be difficult to knit with, but actually it was quite easy to work. It frogged easily too, which was just as well as I had not one, but two major visits to the frog pond. The first one stemmed from a comprehension fail, and the second one from my inability to count beyond ten without taking my shoes off.

Also this week my fountain, which I bought about 20 years ago is finally installed in the garden.
It was in the conservatory at our old house, and since we moved it has sat on the drive waiting to be installed for nearly 10 years. We cleaned it out, filled it up, and it worked first time! I'm so excited to finally have it up and running.
